Did you know that throwing shoes haphazardly into a big ol’ messy shoe pile can shorten the life of a shoe? If that thought hadn’t occurred to you yet, here’s another one we all know, no matter if take heed to be careful with footwear or not: good shoes are expensive.

If you take care to organize and treat your belongings well, they will obviously last longer, and this most certainly includes those items on your feet that get much wear, tear, and daily usage.

And here’s the catch I want to make in this article: if you don’t have a  closet shoe organizer that those shoes are almost certainly going to tossed in the pile & lost in the rubble of your wardrobe. Which means they’re not gonna last as long as they could. Which means you just threw some hard earned money down the drain. D’oh!

And then there are even other annoyances too with having your shoes thrown about.

You know that feeling you get when you can’t find the shoe you’re looking for… talk about anxiety. Let’s not forget on top of that the amount of time thrown in the trash, wasted searching for missing shoes! Consider this: if you lead an active life, then every day you will try on many shoes, literally and figuratively: there are shoes for work, shoes for sports, shoes for exercising, and even shoes for relaxing in!

To make shoes available exactly when you need them the solution is a shoe organizer!

First what you should is go through your shoes and find the ones you don’t need. Be realistic, dear reader – you know and I know it: everyone has some shoes they don’t need. These can be to friends, Goodwill, or other charity groups. (If they’re really roughed up then consider the trash but that’s the last resort.) Becoming accustomed to disposing of shoes and clothes that you no longer need or wear will help you keep ALL your closet items, shoes included, far more organized than when you keep everything you’ve ever owned.

Part of organizing the shoes that are left – the awesome shoes, the Nikes, the Reeboks, the thigh high boots, and of course a ladies selection of Sex and the City shoes -  is to pair them and group them into types.

The out of season shoes would naturally be kept in the back of the organizer while the currently used shoes put in front to have available easily.

Here’s the thing about using shoe organizers that you should remember: whether it’s a small or large selection of shoes you’ve got – which is only going to grow – a shoe storage system will keep them organized. The benefits of a shoe organizer such as a shoe storage bench should be self evident to you by now!

At this point, you can relax a little. Why?

Because once a shoe organizer has been set up it is easy to keep shoes organized by type, color and season.

And lastly: here’s a common sense tip to put on the forefront of your brain : try not to drop your shoes at the front door or just anywhere in the house where you feel like. Get in the habit of using your organizer!

The good news: products for organizing your shoes can be found for great prices. In future articles, we will review a few different shoe benches, organizers/storage cubes and then add those reviews here to the end of this article.
